Maryland, Baltimore: Hamilton Tavern

Hamilton Tavern, Baltimore
The Hamilton/Laurelville area of northeast Baltimore, Maryland has been going through somewhat of a transformation.  Over the past couple of years I have seen more shops, art galleries and restaurants appearing along Harford Road.  Revitalization of existing urban areas helps cultivate more green belt space around a city.

My friend Lisa and I had a chance to eat at Hamilton Tavern for dinner on a Saturday last month.  The restaurant staff was courteous and really efficient.  We sat at the bar to have dinner and I took a couple of snap shots while we decided on what we would choose from the menu to eat and drink.  Having opened in 2008, Hamilton Tavern offers a variety of appetizers, salads and entrees in addition to spirits.

I was told my restaurant staff that the sign featured below was found when the restaurant was being renovated.  It's message sparks great conversation.

I ordered the Mint Lemon Fizz.  This beverage is made with Gin, simple mint, lemon, and soda water. Super light and refreshing for a hot humid day!

Lisa ordered a beer on draft.  Hamilton Tavern has a great selection of beers!

Now onto the main entree. Being the sign of the times, we unanimously selected the poor man's filet mignon. We chose the infamous Crosstown BurgerThis burger is made from Roseda Farms beef and is topped with shredded iceberg lettuce, onion, horseradish cheddar.  Lisa and I decided to top our burgers off with a strip of sticky-spicy bacon.  The couple next to us ordered the Boh Battered O's (onion rings). Might have to order some of those on my next visit.

What is great about this neighborhood pub is that there is both indoor and outdoor seating (weather permitting).  Looking for a place in Baltimore that has unpretentious atmosphere with affordable good food? Head to Hamilton Tavern!
