Maryland, Baltimore: Food Truck Convoy

This past Friday evening, my friend Maria, owner of Moscato Interiors in Baltimore, mentioned that we should check out Baltimore's first ever Food Truck Rally.  After making a stop in Canton, we headed down to Central Avenue near Little Italy where I parked my car.

An earlier storm came though so there were many puddles to dodge on that paved lot across from Central Avenue's garage.   The rain definitely did not keep any event participants away. The first truck we came upon with Damien Bohager's Silver Platter's Truck.

While listening to Baltimore's Mayor Stephanie Rawlings - Blake speech over the loud speaker, it was super encouraging to see so many people turn out to the event this past Friday.  For those who are not from Baltimore, many people leave the city and take their vacations to Maryland and Delaware Beaches during the months of June, July and of course August.  Maybe with gas prices being so high, people are staying close to home these days.

Next I spied a familiar food truck, Iced Gems.  I had tasted these tasty cupcakes at one of Boordy Vineyard's Thursday evening summer concerts.  Great to see Iced Gems made an appearance.

After walking past the Iced Gems Food Truck, Maria recognized and introduced me to the down to earth Baltimore Developer Patrick Turner.  For years, Mr Turner's projects have positively impacted Baltimore's skyline.

After I passing by the Iced Gem's Food Truck, I saw the Gypsy Queen Cafe' Food Truck. Owner of Helen's Garden in Canton is behind this creation.

Kooper's Tavern of Fells Point had a creatively painted Food Truck.  Check out the pictures below.

More than 20 people per food truck were lined up to taste quite an array of culinary choices.  Maria and I were shocked to see such long lines.  Ironically, growing increasingly hungry, we opted to have our dinner at nearby restaurant in Little Italy, La Scala.  Maria mentions to Owner/Chef Nino Germano that we attended the Food Truck Rally.  Nino thought it was fantastic to see events like the Food Truck Rally being organized.  He also mentioned that events like this one tend to attract more people into the city.

With the success of this first ever organized Baltimore Food Truck Rally,  I am sure we will see more future food trucks come together to feed residents and visitors of Baltimore.
